Liverpool Cityscape One - Peter Gibson-Black

Hand drawn over 60 hours and now yours to own, capture an essence of Merseyside with this exclusive digital drawing, part of the Cityscapes of Liverpool series. This piece was a challenge, packed with intricate details, rooftops, streets, vehicles, and scattered figures, demanding weeks of effort, from quick sketch sessions to full-day undertakings. Landmarks include St John’s Beacon, once home to Radio City 96.7, and the Bombed-Out Church at the top of Bold Street, a WWII relic. The Georgian Quarter unfolds along Rodney Street, leading up Mount Pleasant to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, surrounded by the university district. Hope Street connects The Everyman Theatre and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, while LIPA, founded by Paul McCartney, sits in the foreground. In the distance, Anfield Stadium stands to the left of the cathedral, with Seaforth and Bootle docks further out. Across the River Mersey, New Brighton’s lighthouse is visible, while Renshaw and Lime Street guide the eye toward the neoclassical grandeur of St George’s Hall.

Printed with a 12-colour Giclée process on a premium substrate, each custom stretched canvas is hand-finished and mounted on a European knotless pine frame. Its curved profile minimizes contact, while finger jointed tensioning and wooden wedges help prevent warping.
